One Mile Beaches

There are 26 Beaches on the Port Stephens peninsula, from ocean front to protected harbour beaches, plenty for swimmers, surfers, fisher people or sunbathers to enjoy. Samurai Beach is one of the few “Free beaches” (clothing optional) in NSW and is a short walk from One Mile.

Create a memory of a lifetime! Enjoy a 1.5 – 2 hour dolphin watching cruise from Nelson Bay. Between May and November each year hundreds of whales migrate very close to our shores, enjoy a 3 hour whale watch cruise or try your luck land based whale watching from any of the ocean beaches or lookouts like Mount Tomaree.

Most of Port Stephen’s beaches are surrounded by National Parks, where you can enjoy a short or long hike on many of the trails that connect each town.

A walk to the summit of Tomaree Head is a must do. To fully appreciate this magnificent walk, allow 1 ½ hours. Once at the summit, marvel at the panoramic views of idyllic Port Stephens and it’s coastline. Worimi Conservation Lands are located in Anna Bay and are home to the largest moving sand mass in the Southern Hemisphere, something not to be missed! Explore the magnificent beachfront, watch the sun set over the sand or jump on a sand dune tour with one of the many professional operators.

There are lots of animals to see at Melaleuca. Keep a look out for koalas in the trees as you walk to One Mile Beach and enjoy bird watching on site. Please note that Melaleuca is a Land for Wildlife property so no domestic pets are allowed.
